Ballyhest with Terry's Family

Terry and Jeanne and their kids, Aidan, Brendan and Maeve, brought me with them for our first trip to visit Bill Reilly's cousins in Ballyhest, Waterford and Carrick-on-Suir, Tipperary. This is the cottage in which Bill's grandmother, Catherine Connolly Reilly, was born. The interior photos of the home, derelict now, still show the mantel, and the tiny dimensions that sheltered grandparents Thomas and Catherine Godfrey, their daughter, Bridget, and her husband, Nicholas Connolly, and their children, James, Thomas, Catherine and baby Nicholas. Catherine remained here until her grandmother died, and then left for America, in 1894, when she was about nineteen years old.
